could this be it at last?

I was working from home today, and hoped to sleep in a little later, while also getting a walk in… but I woke up at some stupid time, 4am ish… eventually hauled myself out of bed, did a few body-weight exercises, and put my running shoes on.

It was cold out, but this was day one of a new training plan (well, day two actually, because Mondays are rest days) and I was actually quite eager. 1.5 miles on the 10km beginner’s running plan. 2.4km in modern parlance, and as per /my/ plan, I walked it.

food:

breakfast: smoked salmon, 2 eggs, avocado, glass of milk with cold drip coffee and stevia flavouring
mid-morning: long black and a couple of sugar-free dark choc biscuits
lunch: two kranskies on low carb bread and a can of kanguru apple “wellness blend”
dinner: salami, cheese and beetroot crisp breads, carbonated water. 2 squares 85% dark choc

I don’t tend to get on well with myfitnesspal for long-term food tracking, but have used it for the past two days to check that I’m hitting a low carb goal (not keto). Was much better today, having a more substantial lunch made it easier to stick to plan, and the macro split was 11% carbs, 65% fats, 24% protein. 59g of carbs.

I was a little shocked to discover that just two squares of 85% Lindt dark chocolate is 483 calories!

other:

morning: metformin, trajenta, ancestral nutrition multi, usana cellsentials & biomega fish oil
evening: metformin, usana cellsentials & biomega fish oil

activity:

2.5km down and up the hill in just over 28 minutes
pre-walk: some minimal body weight stuff based on chart 1 of the 5BX plan
total steps: 4764 – must make conscious effort to move more when working from home!

physical, mood etc.:

actually woke up in a reasonable state of mind, and had to talk myself into getting out of the warm for a short time… energy levels fine, a bit tired but not in a way to be problematic.
9:15pm: the time of writing this post… ready for bed, and aching…

notes:

Not really much to add at this point – a focus for this week is to maintain the journaling. It was a key component in the original “no more mr fat guy” efforts 11 years ago…
